I am wondering since the SM420 is a GM transmission pattern for the bell housing, if I need to buy the 1k+ adapter for the 4l80e, or if I just need a flexplate and parts since it might fit? Sep 4, 2014 · Hey guys, After exhaustive reading, I haven't seemed to be able to find out if a 4L80 out of a 4 wheel drive GM application (1991-1996 vintage) would mate up directly with my NP-208 transfer case that originally came behind a 700R-4 (1982 vintage). I currently have the Tf727 that came with it. I have the adapter plate to go from the cummins to the 4L80 but I need to know if anyone here has experience with this tranny and what I will need to make it work with the 4BT as far as the electronics go. This kit lets you get the 4L80E 4L85E transmission functioning behind the GM small block, big block, LS and LT engines. Must be used with our hybrid billet flexplate.
